Shifting Spaces
January 2021
By using natural light in warmer and softer tones, this photo series looks at light in transitional spaces.  The six photos are meant to be viewed in the order they appear from left to right and top to bottom.  The subject matter starts with light as it appears on the stairway bannister after shining in through the lace curtain over the window in the next photo.  The set then shifts to a win-dow, door, backyard looking out, and greenery.
As a whole, the series is a reflection of my desire for better weather, more light, and more opportunity to go outside.  The isolation forced on myself and many others due to social dis-tancing as a precaution against the pandemic coupled with gloomier and colder weather has been hard on myself and I am sure many others.  That is why the series uses lighting in a way that romanticizes the outdoors and appears to long for the changing of spaces.
